Edit talking videos on your phone

A talking video is quick to record. Editing takes longer: cut the pauses, cut the slips, add captions. Here is what matters and how to do it on your phone, without a timeline.
Before you edit: record well
A good edit starts with the recording. Put the phone at eye level, record upright and find a window that lights you from the front or the side. Light from behind makes your face dark.
Sound matters more than the picture. Record in a room with carpet, curtains or furniture, not an empty kitchen, and keep the phone close. A clip-on mic helps but is not a must.
If you trip over a word, don't stop. Pause for a moment and say the sentence again. The pause makes the cut easy later.
Cut the pauses
Pauses are normal when you talk; in the finished clip they feel long. That is why many creators cut out every breath. The picture jumps briefly and the video gets tighter. This is called a jump cut.
By hand that means: zoom into the timeline, find the start and end of each pause, split, delete. A one-minute clip quickly adds up to a lot of cuts.
VoiceCut does this part for you. As soon as the clip is in, the app finds the pauses and cuts them out, on your phone, with no upload. You then see every cut in the text and bring it back with one tap.
Don't remove every pause. A short pause after an important point gives it weight.
Cut the slips: in the text, not the timeline
The sentence you said twice, the wrong word, the start that doesn't fit: you find them faster by reading than by listening. That is why VoiceCut writes down what you say. Select the sentence in the text, tap “Remove”, and it is gone from the video.
Then watch the result once from start to end. A cut in the middle of a sentence is easy to miss when reading and easy to hear when listening.
Captions
Many people watch Reels and Shorts with the sound off. With captions they still follow you. Keep them short: one line, a few words, easy to read.
Don't put them at the very bottom. That is where Instagram and TikTok put the description and buttons. Just below the middle is usually free.
Read the words once. No speech recognition always gets names and technical terms right. In VoiceCut you fix a word with “Edit text”.
Export
In VoiceCut you don't pick a format or resolution; the app uses your clip's. The video gets no watermark, also in the free version.
Watch the finished video once on your phone before you post it, with sound and without.
